The Lansdowne Club Chair in Classic Leather

Simply known as the ‘comfortable chair’ when they first appeared in France in the 1920s, comfortable was certainly fitting. Developed in the Art Deco period, these chairs moved away from function to embrace enveloping curves and comfort. Adopted and made popular by the gentleman's clubs in nineteenth-century England, the club chair was born.

With a nod to its 1920’s French roots, the Lansdowne has all the hallmarks of a classic club chair; low-profile, rolled armrests, antique studwork and a nice deep seat. The solid hardwood frame is glued, screwed, and dowelled for maximum strength and supports plenty of springs, padding and stuffing ensuring it is solid and extremely comfortable. Upholstered in our exquisite Classic Leather - a premium semi-aniline leather that’s super soft with a subtle sheen that develops delicate undertones when stretched. Topped off with a specially developed seat cushion that has a foam core encased in a plump fibre jacket for supreme comfort, this chair epitomises luxury and sophistication.
