Club Chairs

Simply known as the ‘comfortable chair’ when they first appeared in France in the 1920s, comfortable was certainly fitting. Developed in the Art Deco period, these chairs moved away from function to embrace enveloping curves and comfort. Adopted and made popular by the gentleman's clubs in nineteenth-century England, the club chair was born.

Dozens of shapes and styles developed through the 20th century, and most have stood the test of time. Their enduring popularity speaks to their classic design with such icons as the ‘Moustache’, with a lip like curves across the back, the ‘Gendarme’s Hat’, with an elegant arch-like curve just like the hat’s peak, and the ‘Ears’, with raised backrest corners that resemble ears. Their timeless design makes them prized pieces of furniture, but it was due to their comfort and functionality that the club chair soon found its way out of the gentlemen’s clubs, and into homes.

Today, club chairs are still very much loved and can be found sitting comfortably in chic restaurants and cosy country pubs as well as in the home. It remains a crowd favourite as everyone gravitates towards ‘the comfortable chair’ knowing its gentle wrap-around shape will provide absolute comfort. With their simple lines and stand-alone style, these chairs are quite easy to work into any room adding a touch of sophistication to any interior.

    We offer a hassle-free return policy on all orders within 28 days of delivery, no matter what the reason. Just reach out to us and we'll take care of everything. We'll even send a crew to collect the furniture. If the item is faulty, we won't charge you for the return. If you simply change your mind, we do charge a small fee.

    Once you've placed your order and we've confirmed the details with you, we'll get started creating your chair. We'll keep you updated as we go and let you know as soon as it's ready. Then we can arrange a delivery date that works best for you. Deliveries are available Monday to Friday, and in some areas, we can arrange a Saturday delivery if that's more convenient for you.

  • Delivery of Your Chair

    We have a fantastic team who will bring your new chair right to your room of choice. We'll even take care of the packaging and ensure it's disposed of responsibly. No need to worry about a thing!
