Captain's Chair in Antique Leather

Captain's chairs date back to the 19th century and were called so because earlier versions of these armchairs were used aboard ships for high-ranking officers. Typically, they were made entirely of wood and the padded leather seat and back were introduced for added comfort and status, developing into the luxurious desk chair we know today.

Ideal for libraries or studies, this compact chair is perfect for small spaces and fits neatly under a desk.  The chair features a beautifully curved wooden frame with intricate spindles that support a plush backrest and arms while diamond buttoning detailing and plump padding ensure a comfortable sit. Antiqued brass studs that are individually hand-tacked perfectly complement the classic design while the seat's gas-lift mechanism enables adjustable height positions, and applying gentle pressure to the backrest while seated allows for a subtle rocking motion. All finished off in our soft and supple Antique Leather, a fine corrected grain leather with an antique coating that’s skilfully rubbed off in places revealing lighter undertones, creating an authentic aged look.
